What does the Bible say about salvation? Our Bibles give more than one term for being saved.
Basically these terms are used for the same experience. What happens when you are saved?
You must remember that salvation is of the Lord. It is a supernatural miracle performed by God because He loves you and has provided salvation for you by sending Jesus to die for you on the cross. When you come as a needy sinner to God, Who loves you, you come by faith, with an imperfect knowledge. Some of these things will be clear before you are saved, and some of these things will become clear after you are saved, and you submit to God and His Word, the Bible. It is encouraging to realize that you are not saved by what you bring to God, but that you come to God and receive what He has already provided for you. How can you be saved?Thomas, Jesus' disciple, put this question to Jesus the night before His crucifixion. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Since Jesus is the Way to the Father, How do you get to Jesus? Take the "Roman's Road." The Romans Road to SalvationThe book of Romans in our Bibles presents clear directions to salvation. Let's open our Bibles and mark some verses that will guide you in the Way of salvation. Your starting pointYou are a sinner. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: These verses show us our condition (under the Law) and need of salvation and forgiveness of sin. Next, the wages of your sin is death. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This verse shows us that death is the penalty for being a sinner and for our sins committed. Now we need Someone worthy of paying the penalty of sin. Your penalty (wages) of sin is paid. But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus is the "Way" back to God. This is salvation from sin. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Ask (pray) for salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Now call on the Lord to be saved! Pray a similar prayer like this, or use this prayer. Dear Father I come to you as a sinner in need of the salvation which You provided for me, when Jesus died in my place on the cross. Save me for Jesus sake, forgive all of my sin, and give me eternal life. Receive me as Your child, give me the gift of the Holy Spirit, and come into my life and take control of my life. Give me the assurance of salvation by Your Word the Bible and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. Thank You Father, in Jesus Name, Amen. Now tell someone and invite someone else to Jesus. Things that accompany salvation |
