History of the KPF

Kansas Pastor's Fellowship

The Kansas Pastor's Fellowship began on Monday, February 3rd, 1986 when Pastor Schoneweis invited preachers, who were graduates of Bob Jones University and ministering in the Kansas area, for a time of fellowship, encouragement, an opportunity to become better aquainted and a "carry-in" meal. Since that first meeting the Kansas Pastor's Fellowship has provided a time of blessing for pastors and their families.

The Purpose

The purpose of the Kansas Pastor's Fellowship is to:

  • Come together and get better acquainted, that we might be better equipped to serve the Lord in this area
  • To plan for future meetings, if desired
  • To hear some words of wisdom from older pastors
  • To be a blessing, encouragement, and provide a fun time for the pastor's family
  • To get away, meet others of like faith, and find out where their works are and what they are doing

Doctrinal Position

This Fellowship has no stated doctrinal position other than BJU grads and friends. This is not intended to be a means of inclusion or exclusion of anyone wanting and needing the fellowship and encouragement of fellow believers.

There was a point in the past where it appeared that the fellowship might be influenced by strong personalities or by the expectations of weaker personalities. Therefore, BJU grads and friends became a position of identification because of the consistent and well known position of Bob Jones University in fundamentalism.

Activities

The Kansas Pastor's Fellowship has met in churches, parks, community centers, homes, garages, and toured and sung, and preached, and prayed, and eaten some of the best food ever served anywhere. We have enjoyed fishing, shooting blue rocks, visiting museums, and host of other activities. Young and old alike have enjoyed the fellowship. The family of the pastor is in need of encouragement and friendship as much as the pastor. Wives and children have always been welcome. So the activities of the KPF include the whole family.

There are no officers, monies, or stated agendas. The volunteer host pastor and his wife set the date and the tone of each fellowship meeting. For the record, we have never had a bad time. God had always been more than good to us!

Meeting Times

The KPF tries to meet 4 times each year:

  • January or early February
  • April
  • July or August, before school begins in August
  • October, the third Monday and Tuesday at the FBFI SC Regional
We bring our calendars to the meetings and try to set a date or dates for future meetings.

Many other things are crowding our schedules, and demands are made upon our time. So we like to keep this an all-day-time to be encouraged and refreshed as a family with friends in the ministry.
