The King's Kids ClubKing's Kids is a weekly ministry of Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30. King's Kids is for children in the 1st through 5th grades and younger children whose parents are attending the weekly adult Bible study. We enjoy learning songs that teach about God's character, our salvation through Jesus Christ, and growing in Christlikeness after salvation. We also learn many Scripture songs—Scripture verses set to music, which help us memorize God's Word. Scripture memory is an important part of King's Kids. This school year we have been working on memorizing longer portions of Gods Word, such as John 3:14-17 and Psalm 1:1-6. We help the children hide God's Word in their hearts by quoting the passage together many times and explaining it throughout the weeks. Another facet of our weekly meetings is learning to use our Bibles better. We practice the books of the Old and New Testaments and have “Sword Drills.” Since the Bible is God's Word and His revelation to us, we must learn to read it and use it. During lesson time King's Kids is divided into smaller age groups for Bible lessons. The younger children's class has been "taking a walk through the Bible." Starting in Genesis they have been learning about the creation and Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and the Flood, the Tower of Babel, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and many others. The colorful flannelgraph pictures and exciting drama, make lasting memories and bring the Bible lessons to life. The older children's class has been studying God's character. Where did God come from? What is God like? What does God bless? What does God hate? Where is God? Who are the three persons of God? Without a Biblical knowledge of God we cannot understand His purpose for us. We have also been studying John Bunyan's book, Pilgrim's Progress and learning about Pilgrim's journey through his salvation decision, his battles with the Devil, the flesh, and the world, and his journey to the Celestial City (Heaven). We see how this classic story has lessons for us today as we journey through life. It is our desire to see young people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to help them in their Christian growth. Salvation is not just a knowledge of Christ, but a decision each person must make as he realizes his sin problem, and his inability to help himself. A true Christian then grows in Christ and desires to become more like Jesus. |
